When I was a kid, I would go to my grandmother’s house quite often. She always kept a little tub of whipped cream that she would let me spoon some of it out as a treat.
Whipped cream has always held a special place in my heart because of this. That is why I am excited to share my Keto Whipped Cream with you. I took extra care when making this and it is nothing short of delicious! This really is one of the easiest recipes you’ll make.
What I love about this whipped cream besides its healthiness, is how well it pairs with so many delicious desserts. It is an excellent topping for my Keto Banana Pudding or on a Blueberry Milkshake.
I’m not going to list every dessert you can use whipped cream with; I think you get the idea. You could always do what I do and just eat it by itself with a spoon too.
How to Make Keto Whipped Cream
- Mix the ingredients - Combine the ingredients in a bowl and mix them until it is nice and thick.
- Serve - Can be used immediately or chilled. Enjoy!
Tips and Variations
- Storage - Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. Store in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 2 months.
- Reheating - Do not heat this keto whipped cream recipe as it will melt it. If using from the fridge, use right away as it’s meant to be served chilled. If it’s coming from the freezer, let it thaw on its own and whip it some more using a hand mixer, if need be.
- Use other extract flavors - The fun part about whipped cream is that it’s easy to switch up the flavors. Exchange the vanilla extract for other extract flavors in the same amount. For example, chocolate extract, birthday cake, cranberry, peppermint, orange, lemon, etc. You can match it to the flavor of the dessert you’re working with.
- Make it chocolate - Instead of using an extract to just flavor the whipped cream chocolate, use a tablespoon of cocoa powder. This will make it look and taste like chocolate.
- Skip the cream of tartar - If you can’t get your hands on the cream of tartar or are out, just skip it. It may take a bit longer to thicken up the mixture, but only by a minute or two.
- Use cold cream - If your cream is colder, you will get it to thicken up quicker when mixing it.
- Use a metal bowl - A metal bowl keeps the ingredients chilled for a quicker mixing job. If you’re wanting whipped cream on keto quickly, a metal bowl will make the process the quickest.
Common Questions About Keto Whipped Cream
Is Whipping Cream the Same as Heavy Cream?
Heavy Cream and Whipping cream are essentially the same thing. They both have at least 36% milk fat. Heavy cream does, however, tend to hold its shape better.
It makes for a sturdier and more desirable texture when dealing with recipes like whipped cream. In general, you can usually use both interchangeably, but I prefer heavy cream if I have the option.
If you cook more with both options, you’ll find which you prefer more as well.
What is Whipped Cream Used For?
Whipped cream is generally used as a dessert topping. It is used in some other recipes like jello as well. I typically like to top my sundaes or coffee with whipped cream.
It also pairs very well with a lot of pies and as I mentioned above, just as a little standalone sweet treat! Let me put it this way, it’s rare you’ll come across a dessert that wouldn’t pair with whipped cream.
Is Whipped Cream Keto?
Yes. As long as you use a sugar substitute, Whipped Cream is Keto. Make sure and add some to our Keto Pumpkin Pie.
