No longer deal with bland, healthy meats when you add this homemade Keto Gravy to your dinner plans! Uses very few ingredients, bursting with flavor, and it’s a breeze to add to a meal. Takes only a few minutes to toss together and takes your recipe to a whole other level.
I hate to burst your bubble, but this isn’t a recipe for keto biscuits and gravy or keto sausage gravy. However, I promise I have that planned for the future. In the meantime, this keto gravy recipe is an amazing way to keep the holidays healthy while not sacrificing flavor. Tastes just like the gravy you would find at Thanksgiving dinner or over a delicious steak. It is a really great way to up the ante on your favorite savory dishes.
This gravy takes no time at all to make and uses only a few basic ingredients. I would really recommend adding it to some Grilled Chicken or using it to top off some Bacon Wrapped Brussels Sprouts. It is one of my favorite things to liven up a dinner party with my family while still secretly keeping things healthy. It really takes those healthy meals and puts a jig in their step. In other words, you’re going to love it!

Tips and Variations
- Storage - Store in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 5 days. This can be stored in the freezer, in an airtight container, for up to 3 months.
- Reheating - Reheat in the microwave or over the stove in a saucepan.
- Use other stock options - If you want to change up the flavor of your gravy, simply use another broth.
- Make it vegan - You can easily make this gravy vegan or vegetarian by using vegetable stock in place of the chicken stock.
- Add onion - If you want to add even more flavor to the keto gravy, you can dice an onion, saute it, and add it to the gravy as it simmers.
- Can I use broth or bone broth instead of stock? - You bet! Any of these would work great. However, you cannot use options like bouillon cubes.
- Use other spices - You can add more than salt and pepper such as garlic powder, rosemary, parsley, etc. Any of those classic fall herbs work well with this recipe.
- Thicken the gravy - If your gravy won’t thicken, give it a minute to cool as it will thicken further once it does. If it’s still not thick enough, add some more xanthan gum and whisk it again.
Common Questions About homemade Keto Gravy
Is Gravy ok on Keto?
Traditional gravy uses flour which we avoid when eating keto. That’s because it has so many carbs, it quickly boots you out of ketosis and effectively kills the progress your body has been making. However, not all gravy recipes are made the same. This one tastes just like the gravy you’re used to pouring over your turkey on Thanksgiving, it just is easier, takes less steps, and doesn’t involve high carbs. To put it simply, most gravies you’re used to are not good on keto, but this one is!
What Can I Use as a Thickener on Keto?
Xanthan gum is the best option for thickening liquids like this gravy while following the keto lifestyle. It won’t knock you out of ketosis and it acts just like cornstarch, if not better. In fact, you can always use it in place of cornstarch in normal recipes as well. As far as this type of recipe goes, there’s not many other ingredients you can use to thicken it up.
