Tips and Variations
- Storage - Store in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 4 days. You can freeze this candy cane dip in an airtight container for up to 2 months.
- Reheating - I do not suggest forcibly heating this healthy dessert dip. Since it’s made with dairy, it will turn to mush quickly and the texture won’t ever be the same. It can be served immediately out of the fridge. If being served from the freezer, let it sit out for at least 30 minutes to an hour before beating with a hand mixer before serving.
- Use other extract flavors - If you don’t really care for the peppermint flavoring, you can always use other options. For example, coconut extract, vanilla, birthday cake, etc. Lots of choices.
- Use other candy pieces - If there are other sugar free candy pieces you would rather use, go right ahead! Just as long as they’re keto-friendly.
- Make it various colors - If you want to get even more festive with your candy cane dip, you could always add some food dye. Some fun colors could be pink, red, or green. You can make it whatever color you want. You could even layer the colors!
Common Questions About Keto Peppermint Dip
Can You Freeze Dessert Dip?
It will depend on the dessert dip. However, most dessert dips you can definitely freeze, but you have to be careful thawing it. First of all, be sure it’s stored for no longer than 3 months and use an airtight container.
Second, when warming up the dip to an edible temperature, don’t forcibly heat it. This means, don’t stick it in the microwave to try and hurry along the thawing process.
You’ll want to sit it out about an hour before serving and then give it a quick whip with the hand mixer. Re-top it with some crushed peppermint pieces, and you’re set to serve.
What to Serve with this healthy Dessert Dip?
It depends on the dessert dip as far as what to serve with it. However, for this Christmas dip specifically, keto graham crackers or keto cookies are great serving choices.
Keto sugar cookies or a similar plain cookie would do the trick as well. When in doubt, always go for low carb fruit options as it’s a great choice to fall back on for all dessert dips in general.
